The world was blown away by the city of Athens when it hosted the 2004 Olympic Games, thousands have flocked to this beautiful city to see where it all happened. The most popular sites to see include the Parthenon, Acropolis, Odeon and Temple of Athena and there are some really fantastic shops and restaurants to enjoy. Not to mention all those ruins Athens is famous for.
Chania is beautiful with lots of amenities close to the harbour so you won’t have far to venture. There are some really interesting museums to explore as well as churches and craft shops with local products to purchase. You’ll find a great variety of tasty food to try also – this place is a little gem.
Take a little stroll along the natural harbour, surrounded by wooded mountains, this is one place you’re guaranteed to want your camera. You may even spot a turtle if you are lucky. Head to Vallianos Square which is surrounded by shops and tavernas and an ideal location to enjoy a coffee. The Archaelogical Museum has a fantastic collection of artefacts from the Trojan war and objects dedicated to the Gods as well as a separate room containing gold Mycenean jewellery. Get ready for a jam-packed day in Argostoli.
