About This Ship

Marella Explorer 2 is the latest addition to the Marella Cruises fleet – and boy oh boy is she set to impress! Sailing from Summer 2019, she’s the sister ship to Marella Explorer – but with one big difference. She’s adult only!

Marella Explorer 2 oozes sophistication, from facilities like the Champneys Spa which boasts a sauna with floor-to-ceiling windows to the perfect sunbathing spot The Veranda, with stylish cocoon chairs and Balinese beds that make relaxing easier than ever. You can even order drinks straight to your lounger!

Her dining offering is no less impressive, with eight superb restaurants to choose from. From the tantalising flavours of The Mediterranean, where you’ll find pizza, tapas and Portuguese meat skewers, to the uber-cool Dining Club, where you’ll be treated to to high-end cuisine. Foodies will love it!

That’s without mentioning the Surf & Turf Steakhouse, the Snack Shack – the perfect place to grab a quick bite – and Kora La, where you’ll discover oriental flavours inspired by authentic Asia.

And if you think the food sounds good, wait until you hear about the bars! With 10 places to enjoy your favourite tipple, you’ll have tried and tested every single item on the cocktail menu in no time. Did we mention All Inclusive comes as standard on this ship?

Enjoy British pub vibes in the Squid & Anchor, where you’ll find live bands, game machines, quiz nights and even a spot of karaoke. Venture to Apertif for pre-dinner sip of champagne or prosecco, or turn things up a notch by heading to Indigo Bar, where flare demonstrations and cocktail-making lessons take place. It’s also the perfect spot for soaking up 360 degree views, day or night.

And for the real party-goers, there’s the adjoining Indigo Club. Make sure you’ve got your dancing shoes on, as this is where you’ll find a dangerously-cool DJ booth, dancefloor and bar. And if your head’s feeling a little worse for wear the next morning, stop by the Coffee Port for your caffeine fix!

Catch a superb show in the Broadway Show Lounge, which even offers waiter service, meaning you won’t miss a minute of the action! The cinema serves up your favourite flicks, and there’s even a spot for mini-golf if you feel like starting a tournament with the family.

If shopping’s more your thing, you’ve got a whole selection of onboard boutiques at your fingertips selling all your favourite duty-free products. And if you think Lady Luck is on your side, try out the slot machines and card tables at the Indigo Casino. There’ll never be a dull moment!

All tips and service charges are included in the price of your Cruise. You're not expected to tip any of our crew - unless you want to, of course.

Marella Cruises' newest addition, Marella Explorer 2, is joining their fleet in summer 2019. Marella Explorer is the ship’s big sister, so you can expect some similar qualities, like a range of restaurants, a Champneys Spa and Indigo – a chic bar-club-casino space. But there’s one big difference between them – Marella Explorer 2’s reserved for adults.

Deck 4

What's inside:

Deck 4 is home to the majority of Marella Explorer 2’s Outside Cabins – so if you’re after a cabin with a window promising stunning sea views, you’ve got plenty of choice on this deck.

The Outside Cabins are the same size as an Inside, but with natural sunlight beaming in and views out to your new destination, they certainly feel a bit more spacious.

Plus as they come in a variety of capacities – two, three and fourth berth – they’re a great choice for both couples and families.

With the Outside cabins on this deck spanning the full length of the ship, you’ve got the full choice of whereabouts you’d like to be positioned.

Choose a cabin at the back of the ship and you’re just a lift ride away from all the best restaurants – Latitude 53 on Deck 5 and 6, Surf & Turf Steakhouse on Deck 6 and the buffet-style eatery The Market Place on Deck 11.

Head for a cabin mid-ship and you’ll be within easy reach of The Broadstreet shops on Deck 7 – perfect for a quick shopping spree – as well as the main pool area on Deck 11.

And if your cabin is at the front of the ship, you’ll be at the Broadway Show Lounge on Decks 6 and 7 in a flash – you’ll never miss a show!

There’s also plenty of Inside Cabins available - most being the standard two-berth option, with only six being four-berth on this particular deck.

Aside from cabins, Deck 4 is also the home of the ship’s Photo Studio, which is located towards the back of the ship.  Head there with your loved ones for a professional photo shoot – perfect for commemorating a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary, or for no reason at all!

Whether you’re cruising as a couple and fancy some loved-up shots or you’re sailing with the kids and want a new family portrait, you’ll be impressed by how these pictures turn out.

You’ll also find kiosks located outside the Photo Studio – as well as other areas of the ship – where you can view and buy all the photos captured by the onboard team.

Towards the front of the ship on Deck 4 is the Medical Centre. If you’re at all concerned or worried in the slightest about a health-related issue, or you’re just not feeling well, you can go here and be met by an English-speaking doctor. They’ll be able to carry out a consultation and prescribe any medication if needed.

If you’re travelling with any health conditions you’re concerned about, it could be an idea to select a cabin close by, purely for peace of mind.

Casual speaks for itself, and it’s what you’ll likely wear to pop to the buffet for lunch or for a visit to the beach – tops and shorts or perhaps a sundress.

Smart attire is where you’ll get the chance to dress up a bit. Perhaps for when you’re heading for a meal in one of the onboard speciality restaurants, or a performance at the Broadway Show Lounge. You might opt for trousers or smart shorts, a skirt or dress, a polo shirt and smart shoes – that means ditching the flip flops.

If you want to really dress things up with a jacket or tie – that’s totally up to you. Marella Cruises’ often host gala evenings, formal nights and dress-to- impress nights, so you’ll more than likely have a chance to get really glammed up.

13. Help, I’m Cruising Solo!

Don’t worry, there’s no need to panic. Whether you’ve cruised on your own before or it’s your first time, Marella Cruises go out of their way to ensure you have an amazing time onboard.

Speak to the Social Hostess onboard Marella Explorer 2, who is responsible for organising events and meet ups for solo cruisers. You’ll make new friends in no time!

There’s also large tables to seat up to eight people in many of the restaurants, so you can always dine with other people. No one is ever on their own on a cruise!

And of course, Marella Explorer 2 has plenty of Single Cabins. So you can enjoy your cruise adventure in a comfortable, cosy space.
