About This Ship

Marella Explorer is well known in the cruising world and is a ship boasting choice after choice, including an incredible 10 restaurants and 10 bars onboard. Meaning that as you’re cruising the world, your tastebuds will embark on a journey of their own too.

One of Marella Explorer’s stand-out features is the Indigo bar, hosted in a prime spot for sweeping, panoramic views. Catching glimpses of the horizon here can be serene during the day, but come dusk things turn up a notch as the bar becomes a casino and nightclub.

The amazing array of culinary options available onboard Marella Explorer ensures there’s something for every palette. From handmade rolls at Umi Sushi to slices at the pizzeria, Mediterranean fare and tapas, the food here touches all four corners of the world. And with bowls of ice cream at Scoops, you’re even covered in the snack department as well.

Where relaxation is concerned, there’s no better spot to hit than the Spa. You’ll find a selection of 11 different places to lounge out here, with floor-to-ceiling windows and couples’ areas where luxury treatments for two reign supreme. Another exclusive escape is The Veranda, an adults-only hangout that features pod chairs, day beds and sun loungers.

That’s not to say there aren’t kid-friendly activities onboard Marella Explorer too. Little cruisers have a kids’ club, while the family entertainment here is second to none too. In addition to a Sport & Family Deck and indoor cinema, there are West End-style shows, pool parties and live music on the agenda. It’s a win-win onboard Marella Explorer!

Marella Cruises don’t think tips and service charges should cost you extra, so they've included them in the price. You’re not expected to tip any of their crew – unless you want to, of course.

Last summer, we welcomed Marella Explorer to the fleet. The ship stepped up to the plate, with a bumper batch of 10 restaurants and 10 bars. There are fleet favourites like Snack Shack and Kora La, plus brand new spaces like The Dining Club for foodies and a swanky bar, club and casino. The highlights don't stop at food and drink, though. There's also an indoor cinema, a Sports & Family Deck and a Champneys spa, where you can sign up for everything from body-balancing acupuncture and slimming treatments to body wraps and facials.

14. Help, I’m cruising solo!

Please do not worry! There is no need to panic about cruising solo. Marella Cruises go out of their way to ensure you’ll have an amazing time whilst onboard, whether you’ve cruised alone before or if this is your first time!

Go and speak to your Social Hostess when onboard Marella Explorer, they’ll be responsible for organising events and meet ups for all the solo cruisers. – You’ll be making friends in no time! Or if you prefer to keep yourself to yourself then that’s perfectly welcomed to, you can even ask for a table for just you in the restaurants!

However if you would like to dine amongst others, there’s also large tables that’ll seat up to eight people and you can ever arrange to meet other solos at meal times. – You’ll never truly be alone on a cruise!

And of course Marella Explorer has a flurry of Single Cabins, so you can enjoy your time onboard in your own personal, cosy and comfortable space.
