Day 1 – Corfu Town, Corfu

Departs: 23:00

The Iconic Islands cruise itinerary begins on the pretty island of Corfu, known for its pristine beaches, sleepy fishing villages and green, lush vegetation. Corfu's port is just 15 minutes from the airport by car, and free transfers are included with Marella Cruises, so you'll be on board your ship in no time at all.

If you have some spare time to explore before departure make sure to soak up the views at Bella Vista, Corfu’s most famous lookout point!

You could take a hike up to Paleokastritsa, a tranquil village on the island’s west coast, and marvel at the epic views. Or take a slow stroll around Corfu Town itself, which stands between two large fortresses.

Noteworthy landmarks are the 16th-century church of Ayios Spyridon, the island's archaeological museum, Achilleion Palace and Corfu Town’s old quarter. This beautiful old quarter is filled with street vendors and small, winding roads that you'll love to explore.

Day 2 – At sea

Take some well-deserved time for rest and relaxation as you enjoy the luxurious facilities on board Marella Discovery. She has seven restaurants, seven bars, an open-air cinema, a rock climbing wall, mini-golf course, five-storey atrium and indoor and outdoor pools. There's plenty to keep you occupied, whether you want to take a peaceful swim or get involved in a competitive round of golf.

Day 3 – Thira, Santorini

Time in port: 07:00-18:00

Santorini is the classic Greek picture postcard – villages on hilltops, with a mix of blue-domed churches and whitewashed houses. Hike up to the village of Oia for spectacular views of the coastline and sky blending into the sea. Alternatively, pamper yourself in the hot springs at Palea Kameni, with waters warmed by volcanic activity.

Thira's main square is great for shopping, with local vendors selling jewellery and traditional souvenirs, such as Greek terracotta vases. There are also several bars, clubs and restaurants to choose from, including traditional tavernas and contemporary cocktail lounges. If you've got a taste for wine, don't forget to do a spot of tasting at one of the many local wine stores.

Day 4 – Rhodes Town, Rhodes

Time in port: 08:00-18:00

Calling all beach lovers! With more daily sunshine than any other Greek island, Rhodes is the place to be on your Iconic Islands cruise, whether you'd prefer to laze on the beach or go sightseeing. The island's most famous monument is undoubtedly the ancient Acropolis.

Have a meander around Rhodes Town, go yacht-spotting in Mandraki Harbour, and venture inside the ancient walls of the citadel to discover the medieval city left behind by the Knights of Saint John. Just 22 minutes in a taxi from Rhodes Town is Filerimos Hill, and a hike up is rewarded with epic views of the surrounding countryside.

Day 5 – Mykonos Town, Mykonos

Time in port: 08:00-18:00

Wander through the narrow lanes of Mykonos Town, where you'll find plenty of churches, shrines, shops and cafés. Also worth a look is the striking Paraportiani Church. The seafront is locally known as Little Venice, and is well worth a stroll around its colourful harbour.

Fancy sunbathing? Relax at Platis Gialos Beach on the south coast of the island. The coastline has white sand and is backed by a stretch of cocktail bars, many of which offer waiter service to the beach.

Day 6 – Chania, Crete

Time in port: 08:00-17:00

History buffs will love this part of their Iconic Islands cruise itinerary, as Chania and the island of Crete is steeped in history.

Many visitors head up to the mountain village of Archanes to discover the Minoan Ruins there. Or you can head to the old Turkish neighbourhood in Chania's old town, where you'll find one of the most significant churches of Chania, called Agios Nikolaos. It's home to a bell tower and a minaret (usually part of a mosque).

Blue Flag beaches are common around Chania, so beach-lovers will feel right at home.

Day 7 – Argostoli, Kefalonia

Time in port: 09:00-18:00

Kefalonia is home to some of Greece's best beaches, as well as a laid back vibe with sleepy fishing towns.

Soak up some sun on the beach, or walk around the bustling town of Argostoli. It's filled with tavernas and lively cafés serving Greek specialties, such as souvlaki.

If you have time, the island's Drogarati Caves are a must-see. This twisty maze of stalagmites and stalactites is thought to be more than 150 million years old!
