She’s waiting to take you to the Leaning Tower in Italy, art galleries in Palma and iconic landmarks in Spain on the Cosmopolitan Classics cruise.
* The order of the itinerary may differ depending on your chosen departure date and airport.
Day 1 – Palma, Majorca
You'll fly into Palma de Mallorca Airport and take a free TUI transfer to the port.
If you arrive early enough to spare some time in Palma, head back out and go for brunch in Mercado Gastronómico San Juan, which will impress you with its extensive range of dishes.
If you’re an art lover, Palma is awash with art galleries. Es Baluard, the modern art museum, has an inspiring collection of innovative artworks. If the kids need to burn off energy after the flight, grab a towel and head to Playa Ca’n Pere Antoni for a swim in the Med.
Just remember, if you do venture inland, ensure you have enough time to make it back for your 10pm departure.
Day 2 – At Sea
You can enjoy the facilities on Marella Discovery 2 today. Test your strength on the climbing wall on Deck 11, or take a jog on the running track. Have a splash around in the open-air pool, then grab lunch at the Snack Shack. Get lost in another world with the Virtual Reality Experience on Deck 3.
You’re spoilt for choice with evening entertainment. Take the kids to an interactive show or catch a performance in the Broadway Lounge. You can even watch a movie by moonlight at the open-air cinema.
Day 3 – Naples (for Pompeii and Capri) Italy
Time in port: 07:00-18:00
Enjoy a day in quintessentially Italian Naples. Pick up some pizza from a window vendor, then visit impressive historical buildings, such as the Castle of the Egg, the opulent Royal Palace of Naples. Or visit Museo Cappella Sansevero, which is full of classical artwork.
A hike to the Mount Vesuvius crater will take around 30 minutes, and it's worth it for the views. You can’t visit Mount Vesuvius without going to Pompeii, the ancient city devastated by the volcano in 79AD. Walk through the ruins to the Amphitheatre and the Temples of Jupiter and Apollo.
Day 4 – Olbia, Sardinia
Time in port: 09:00-17:00
Olbia, in northeast Sardinia, is your destination on Day 4 of your Cosmopolitan Classics itinerary. Stroll from the palm-lined waterfront to Piazza Margherita, where you can enjoy a drink in a nearby café. Wander over to the Church of San Simplicio, then return to the harbour for a tour of the Muse Archeologica.
If you want to go further afield, take a trip down the Costa Smeralda, or the Emerald Coast, where crystal blue waters tiptoe onto beaches surrounded by fragrant shrubs, against a backdrop of granite outcrops.
Day 5 – Livorno (for Florence and Pisa), Italy
Time in port: 07:00-19:00
Once you see this scenic port with its pretty, pastel buildings, you might want to hang out there, but there’s plenty more to see and explore. Wander around the canals of Nuova Venezia (New Venice), or explore the Via Grande and its monuments. You could head south to the Terrazza Mascagni, with its impressive stone walkway and charming pavilion.
Florence and Pisa are within easy reach, so you could take a day trip to these iconic locations. See the red dome of Il Duomo (the cathedral) dominate the Florence skyline, and cross the Ponte Vecchio bridge. You could also visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Miracle Square, if time permits.
Day 6 – Villefranche (for Monaco and Nice), France
Time in port: 07:00-18:00
Day 6 of your Cosmopolitan Classics itinerary finds you in Villefranche on the French Riviera, deciding whether to visit Nice or go celebrity-spotting in Monaco.
Opt for Nice and walk along the Promenade de Anglais in the shade of the palm trees and its imposing 19th-century buildings. Climb up to the Monastery Notre Dame de Cimiez and take some snaps looking down over the city.
Alternatively, choose a day trip to Monaco. Its extravagance is evident in everything, from Michelin-star restaurants to the Palais du Prince, home to the oldest monarchy in the world.
Day 7 – Palamos, Spain
Time in port: 09:00-18:00
Palamos, on the Costa Brava, started life as a fishing village, and you can still see the fishermen unload their hauls on the quayside today. There’s plenty to do if you’re feeling active, with hiking paths and water sports on offer. If you’re a foodie, why not book onto a cooking workshop?
Barcelona isn't far, and has a plethora of sights to see. These include the famous Camp Nou Stadium, home of Barcelona FC, Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia, and the eclectic Las Ramblas, with its street performers and artists.
Day 8 – Palma, Majorca
It’s time to wave adios to Marella Discovery, as the end of your Cosmopolitan Classics cruise is nigh. Why not add a final memory to your holiday with a walk from the port, down the palm-lined promenade, to Palma’s old town?
