* The order of the itinerary may differ depending on your chosen departure date and airport.
Day 1 - Newcastle, England

Departs: 16:00

This no-fly cruise leaves from Newcastle at 4pm, so you’ll have plenty of time to get to the cruise terminal. Those who arrive early will find plenty to do in this lively city. The Royal Quays Shopping Outlet, just a few minutes from the terminal, has a selection of cafés, shops and amenities.

Day 2 – At sea

Make the most of your day at sea and get your bearings on the expansive and well equipped Marella Explorer. Dining is a highlight of any cruise and with 10 restaurants and 10 bars to choose from, foodies will be in their element. With a diverse range of cuisine to enjoy, from sushi and pan-Asian to French-inspired cuisine, there’s sure to be something to delight the taste buds. If you’re in need of a mid-morning pick me up, head to The Coffee Port for a cappuccino and pastry. Once you’ve eaten your fill, relax next to the inviting pool and enjoy the scenery.

Day 3 – Flam, Norway

Time in port: 07:00-17:00

Day three will see you arrive in the picturesque mountain town of Flam. As you sail through Sognefjord, the longest and deepest fjord in the world, you’ll be treated to views you’ll never forget. Expect snow-capped peaks and waterfalls, the likes of which you’ve never seen before while Flåm’s town centre has charm in abundance.

Nearby attractions include the White Caves of Gudvangen. The natural formations of this expansive underground cave system are given extra appeal by music and light shows. To make the most of the epic landscape, take a trip on Flam Railway. This exciting excursion includes lunch and will take you past further Norwegian landscapes.

A trip to Naeroyfjord and Stalheim also packs a punch. The awesome Naeroyfjord was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2005 and it’s well deserving of its place. Take a boat ride through the 17-kilometre-long fjord with its steep mountainside and waterfalls for an unforgettable adventure.

Day 4 – Bergen, Norway

Time in port: 09:00-17:00

With its colourful wooden houses, cobbled streets and scenic backdrop, Bergen has plenty to make you smile. It’s the birthplace of composer Edvard Grieg and a trip to his idyllic lakefront home, Troldhaugen, is a must.

The oldest parts of town, Skuteviken and Sandviken, offer a delightful spot to spend an hour or two. The Old Bergen Museum, an open air attraction with exhibits and old houses is also worth a visit. For a birds-eye view, head up to Mount Fløyen. The impressive scenery will provide ample compensation for those aching legs.

If you’re in need of refreshment, head to the Bryggen Quayside in the old harbour to enjoy lunch in a waterfront café.

Day 5 – Geiranger, Norway

Hellesylt, Norway

Geiranger, Norway

A Taste of the Fjords itinerary continues to the UNESCO World Heritage Site village of Geiranger where you’ll arrive at 5pm. The surrounding landscape is dotted with waterfalls, sleek lakes and cascading waterfalls.

What it lacks in size, this small village resort certainly makes up for in scenery and active types can enjoy walking, boating or kayaking in its scenic mountains and lakes.

Day 6 – At Sea

Enjoy some pampering on deck  at Champneys Spa. Book in for treatments and take your pick from facials, body wraps, massages and more. There’s an adults-only sauna with floor to ceiling windows and a steam room to enjoy. Ward off those holiday lbs with a workout in the well-equipped gym.
