Not only is Hardangerfjord the second largest Fjord in Norway, it is also the fourth largest in the world. The scenery here is truly spectacular, so much so it will hypnotise even the most frequent travellers. To the east you’ll find Hardangervidda, one of Europe’s largest mountain plateaus, which is definitely worth a visit even if it’s just to gawk at its stunning lunar-like appearance.
Surrounded by impressive mountain peaks and nestled deep in the Aurlandsfjord, this tiny village is one of Norway’s must-see places. But the real attraction for most has to be Flam’s railway – and were not talking about any average train journey. In fact, the journey from Flam to the mountain tops has been named the world’s most incredible train journeys. But this isn’t surprising with its extreme landscape characterised by deep ravines, mountainside farms and enchanting waterfalls.
