This intimate ship was custom built to sail Portugal's Douro River, with state-of-the-art engineering, deluxe accommodations and streamlined Scandinavian interiors. Like our other Viking Longships, you can choose from a variety of stateroom classes, all with sweeping river views.

The Restaurant

Located on the Middle Deck, the Restaurant is where all meals are served during the cruise. Gaze at the breathtaking scenery through the restaurant’s panoramic windows as you dine on regional specialties and contemporary cuisine. Enjoy open seating and share the day’s discoveries with your favourite guests or discover someone new each day. The atmosphere is casual yet elegant, with high-quality table linens, china, cutlery and glassware at every meal.

Aqua Vit Terrace

The Aquavit Terrace is at the bow of the ship with grills for al fresco dining. This is where friends meet for a drink or snack, where lectures and movie nights take place. The glass walls of the Observation Lounge roll silently away to open onto the Aquavit Terrace. You can enjoy your favourite beverage, a perfectly grilled steak, your traveling companions and the fresh afternoon breeze all at the same time.

As with your stateroom, the public areas are designed to make the most of the splendid views. Whether from the sun deck, the Panorama Lounge or the restaurant, a river cruise provides uninterrupted sightseeing, from the time the morning mist rises from the water to when the setting sun announces the end to another remarkable day.


The Lounge

With floor-to-ceiling glass windows and large, comfortable chairs, the Observation Lounge is the heart of the ship - a gathering place for guests to view the scenery, have a drink, take in lectures and lore, and enjoy local music.

Sun Deck

The Sun deck offers guests a shaded sitting area and an Al fresco dining area, as well as the onboard swimming pool, organic herb garden and putting green.

On & Off Shore Activities

Visit port wine–making facilities along the Douro, tour Lisbon’s Bairro Alto, dine at a centuries-old monastery converted to a museum, enjoy a Portuguese folkloric show and a Spanish flamenco performance, and tour the Mateus Palace and its spectacular gardens.

Onboard, observe or take part in hands-on demonstrations, cooking classes, traditional dance performances, and local tastings. These in-depth experiences are included as an essential part of discovering more about the places through which you cruise, and each activity is planned specifically to illuminate each itinerary.

Onboard Talks

Sometimes you want to dig a little deeper. Viking offer a series of onboard multimedia talks to shed light on the history and culture of the places you visit. Topics may include the Dutch Masters or French impressionists, castles along the Rhine Valley, the formation of the European Union, the life and works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the wine and cuisine of southern France, and key words and phrases in the local language wherever you are traveling. These presentations provide a context for your own observations, enhancing your travel experience.
