Marella Discovery 2

Launched in 2017 to complement its sister ship, Marella Discovery, Discovery 2 is one of Marella’s biggest ships and mainly serves destinations across the Mediterranean. This mid-size vessel manages to balance intimacy with facilities that wow. Highlights include 'Movies by Moonlight' beside one of the two pools, or watching the entertainment in the opulent, five-deck-high atrium.

About Marella Discovery 2

As All Inclusive comes as standard on Marella Discovery 2, you simply pay one price and get the majority of drinks, meals and activities all included – as well as flights and tips. Some of the excellent dining experiences you can try across seven onboard venues include eating with spectacular sea views in the main restaurant, 47˚. Ascend the sweeping double staircase to its Italian counterpart or sample south and east Asian cuisines at Kora La, like delicate curries and spiced seafood dishes.

After a leisurely dinner, wrap yourself under a blanket for an al fresco movie or take in a Broadway-style show at the lounge, with acts like Beatz Interactive mastering LED-lit dance routines. The choice of bars covers the Atrium Bar for bubbles and Venue for family time, with LED screens displaying interactive shows.

If you prefer something more hands-on, there’s always the gaming centre for adults and kids, a casino if you like a roll of the dice, and even an escape room, where for an extra charge you can solve puzzles to break free!

If you’re an active traveller, challenge yourself on the rock-climbing wall or mini-golf course, workout at the gym or tread some laps on the jogging track. Older kids will love joining in, while there’s also the option to entertain any age of children at the kids’ clubs, baby centre or teen hangout. If you’re not travelling with little ones, try out the adults-only Veranda area for sunbathing – featuring out-of-this-world ocean views, of course.

Having over 20 grades of cabin available means you can get exactly what you want from your accommodation – be it an affordable base, balcony views, a room for all the family or a spot of luxury. Cabins and suites come with air-conditioning, flatscreen TVs and tea and coffee-making facilities as standard. For the cruise adventure of a lifetime, Marella Discovery 2 is the perfect cruising companion.

There’ll be six restaurants to choose from. There’s full waiter service at the main restaurant, which serves up traditional dishes with a modern twist. Plus, there are eateries specialising in a particular cuisine – think succulent steak or pan-Asian fare. There’s plenty of choice in the way of drinking spots, as well, whether you’re looking for a pot of tea or a flute of prosecco.

Main Resturant

Marella Discovery 2’s main eatery is a big, stylish venue, finished in the colours of the sand and the sea. Daytime meals here come with a side-order of sea views, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows, and a grand double staircase leads up to a separate eatery.

Deck Bar

This sociable spot ticks the box for cold drinks in between dips.

The Glass House

This place has a split personality, but for all the right reasons. By day, it deals in deli-style light bites and freshly-squeezed juices. Come sundown, the venue turns into casual restaurant with a tapas-style menu. Plus, you can cook your own steaks on hot stones, for an extra charge.

Gallery Resturant

You’ll find this trendy Italian restaurant on the second floor of the ship’s main dining room. It’s a laid-back place, where bookings aren’t necessary, and its designer look features a colour scheme inspired by the sunset.

  • Cuisine: Italian

Big buffet spreads are laid out in this restaurant, with show-cooking stations on-hand to offer things like breakfast omelettes, and carvery roasts in the evening. You can grab snacks in between meals, too.

Surf & Turf Steakhouse

As its name suggests, this à la carte eatery specialises in the likes of marbled steaks and meaty lobster tails. You’ve also got other meat and fish options, as well as plenty to satisfy a vegetarian palate. You’ll pay a cover charge to eat dinner here.

Kora La

Marella Cruises’ signature pan-Asian à la carte makes an appearance onboard Marella Discovery. The menu covers off south and east Asia, featuring dishes like Indian spiced king prawns, and Indonesian beef rendang curry. A cover charge applies for dining here, and you’ll need to make a reservation.

With so many entertainment options, no night onboard’s the same as the last. The Broadway Show Lounge delivers on West-End style numbers. Then there’s Venue, which plays host to family-friendly game shows and performances from virtual bands. Movies by Moonlight takes over out on deck, while live musicians showcase the acoustics in the Atrium Bar. As the night draws to a close, head to the Live Room for a session on the dancefloor.

This is another of Marella Discovery 2’s standout bars, defined by hi-tech evening entertainment. LED screens accompany family-focussed game shows and performances from virtual bands, as well as our new, made-for-children Splash! Live interactive shows which take place during high season.

Broadway Show Lounge

Plush seating and an 800-plus capacity give the ship’s main entertainment venue professional credentials. They have 11 unique shows, including Beatz Interactive, a hi-tech dance piece featuring LED-lit costumes.

Movies By Moonlight

In a Marella Cruises first, we’re premiering an open air cinema. It means you can watch classic movies and the latest box office hits under the stars. Blankets, popcorn, and hot chocolate will be available from the nearby bar.

Atrium Bar

Grab a seat – and a glass of bubbles – at this classy bar, and you’ll have a great view of the entertainment in the atrium.

Bar Eleven

A position on the highest point on deck 11 – where the bar gets its name from – means that drinks in this lounge come with the ship’s best sea views. It’s a contemporary cocktail bar by evening, transforming into a late-night disco as the hours pass.

Live Room

Marella Discovery 2’s flagship watering hole is our most spacious and modern yet, and houses our biggest selection of on-tap beers. Expect the atmosphere to build pace as the hours draw in – evenings might start with the sounds of our signature yellow piano, and end with the sounds of dancefloor classics.

Splash Live

Come sundown, little ones will love this high-energy interactive show, where our friendly characters lead songs and games. Splash Live takes place throughout the high season.

Live Casino

The stylish casino is open until late, and features blackjack tables, and fruit machines. If you’re a beginner, ask the croupiers about getting some lessons in. You’ve also got the entertainment – and the bar – in the Live Room to accompany you while you’re having a flutter.

Breakout & Escape

In this real-life room escape game, you'll need to work as a team to find clues and solve puzzles before the time runs out. A charge applies for this activity.

This fun, interactive space has gaming consoles for adults and children.

Pure Portrait Studio

Drop by the Pure Portrait Studio, and you can book in for a classic indoor photo shoot, or a more fun-filled session on the deck.

Chilled-out days onboard are spent getting pampered at the spa or lounging by one of the two pools – both come with built-in hot tubs, too. For something more active, you can aim for a hole in one on the minigolf course or reach for the sky on the rock climbing wall.

Rock Climbing Wall

Brave the rock climbing wall and get a bird’s-eye view of the ship and surrounding ocean.

Oceans Gym and Spa

Everyone makes a big effort for the weekly formal night, so pop in to the salon for a manicure or hair up-do. Alternatively, spoil yourself in the spa – it’s got a string of treatment cabins where you can indulge in a full body massage or a rejuvenating facial. Enjoy a workout in the fleet’s largest gym, before working up an even bigger sweat in the sauna.

Indoor Pool & Solarium

A brand new feature for Marella Cruises, Marella Discovery’s indoor pool comes with a huge glass canopy roof, and rows of loungers.

Mini Golf

Take the whole family to the minigolf green for an afternoon of fun. It’s got nine holes and widescreen sea views.

Main Pool

An open-air pool for all the family. Loungers are lined up along the water’s edge.

Sports Deck

Right at the top of the ship, this outdoor deck opens during daylight hours and is devoted to sports like basketball, football, and table tennis.

You’ll find four relaxing whirlpool baths on Deck 9.

Jogging Track

Burn some calories on a run around deck 10.

Chilled-out days onboard are spent getting pampered at the spa or lounging by one of the two pools – both come with built-in hot tubs, too. For something more active, you can aim for a hole in one on the minigolf course or reach for the sky on the rock climbing wall.

Kids' Club

The accredited staff at the onboard Kids’ Club do a brilliant job keeping youngsters entertained. There’s messy time with arts and crafts, dressing-up, movie nights and pyjama parties. Trips to the bridge to high-five the captain and behind-the-scenes backstage tours also make the line-up. They’ll even take your little ones to breakfast a couple of times a week while you get a lie-in. Groups are split in to 2 or 3, depending on ages and numbers. Tots is for 3 to 5-year-olds and Team is for 6 to 8 years – sometimes these 2 are combined. They’ve also got lots of activities that hit the mark for the 9 to 11 age group, in Tribe. Best of all, the club is free.

Baby Centre

If you’ve got tots in tow, there’s a dedicated space where you can go feed and entertain them.

The Hide Out

A made-for-teens hangout spot conveniently located by the games area.
