Exciting news for those of you who love to sail straight out of the UK – the Port of Tyne in Newcastle is getting a bump-up in facilities for Marella Cruises passengers!

The revamp includes a new baggage handling facility that’ll enable cruisers to drop-off their bags quicker than ever, after which they’ll be security checked and loaded straight onto the ship. Passengers will then be able to park up in a dedicated Marella Cruises car park.

The International Passenger Terminal, based in North Shields, has been reconfigured to accommodate an extra 1,000 bags as well as an additional 382 car parking spaces. There’ll also be a marquee which will provide cover for the baggage handling facility.

The move comes in the hope of making sure Marella Cruises customers enjoy a seamless end-to-end port experience, as the extra added space should make both embarkation and debarkation all ‘smooth sailing’.
