Princess Cruises will be back on our TV screens this year with a new six-part documentary series on ITV, starring Regal Princess. The series is aptly named ‘The Cruise’ and will give an insider’s view into what life is like onboard for the guests and crew, as they sail through Europe and Russia. We’ll see how the 1,400-strong crew work together to keep everything running ship-shape onboard Regal Princess.
As the series goes on, we’ll follow the personal stories and day-to-day life of key characters onboard, including – the General Hotel Manager who ensures that guests receive the exemplary service Princess Cruises are known for. The Captain of Regal Princess who’s duty it is to navigate the 114,000 tonne, 19-deck-ship through centuries-old harbours and narrow coastal routes. As well as the Head Chef who oversees the preparation of over 20,000 meals per day.
We’ll also get to know the stories of the multi-national crew, from career ambitions to missing home – avid Princess cruisers might even spot a few familiar faces.
Tony Roberts, Princess Cruises’ Vice President of UK and Europe, said: “We are delighted to take centre stage for this major new documentary. It was fantastic to have every aspect of life on a modern cruise ship captured on film, from behind the scenes with the crew, on stage with the dancers to up on top deck with the ship’s guests. We’re so proud of our ship and crew and can’t wait for television viewers to see why”.
Paul Hamann, executive producer at Wild Pictures, said: “It was a fascinating experience for our team to be on Regal Princess – a cruise ship of this size is like a small floating town, which enabled us to capture an incredibly rich variety of stories and characters from both crew and guests to give a unique insight into life at sea on one of the world’s biggest cruise ships”.
