With amazing new ships on the way, cruise lines becoming All Inclusive and themed cruises that’ll have you partying the night away, 2019 is going to be the best year yet for all you cruisers! Take a look at our round up of the main things you’ve got to look forward to this year…
Marella Explorer 2
A new addition to the fleet! Marella Explorer 2 is also a first for the cruise line – as she’ll be their first Adult Only ship! She’s the sister ship to Marella Explorer, so you can expect to find some familiar facilities onboard – but she’ll also boast some unique ones of her own too.
The new venues include a funky bar known as The 19th Hole, which features a quirky golf theme. You’ll be sipping your drinks from booths that are actually formed from golf buggies! Not only that, but there’s even two golf simulators in here too, meaning you can practice your put alongside a nice cold beer. Perfect!
Couples will also love the new champagne bar onboard, Flutes. This glamorous setting welcomes you in with shades of pastel, with a baby grand piano hiding away in the corner and ‘press for bubbles’ buttons scattered around.
Marella Explorer 2’s homeport will be the beautiful bay of Naples in Italy, so you can expect her itineraries so be jam-packed full of mesmerising Mediterranean delights. If you’re looking for a grown-up break away with friends or a romantic getaway with a partner, Marella Cruises latest addition is certainly a good place to start.
An All Inclusive Cruise Line as of May 2019
No more worrying about the bill, fretting about spending money or totting up the cost as you cruise – Marella Cruises have simplified it all and are becoming an All Inclusive cruise line as of May 2019!
There’s so much included, you won’t need to spend another penny onboard if you don’t want to. To find out exactly everything that’s included, click here for more information.
90s Cruise – with guest acts!
After the success of their 80s cruise last year, Marella Cruises have upped the ante and are taking us back to the bouncing beats of the 90s! And this time, they’re really pushing the boat out with the guest acts.
Not only will this mini cruise take you to the amazing sights of Amsterdam and Bruges, but you’ll get to see performances from S Club Party, B*Witched, 5IVE and 991! On top of all their hits, you’ll have 90s bangers thrown your way from top DJs Judge Jules and DJ SASH!
You’ll even have tribute bands too, in the form of Definitely Oasis, Spice Forever and The Stone Mondays!
And lots, lots more…
There’s plenty happening on the ships themselves too! From updated dress codes to facility revamps, click here to find out all the changes you can expect to see onboard Marella Cruises’ ships this year.
Other cruise lines
There’s plenty to expect from other cruise lines in 2019 too! Which of these new ships tickles your fancy?
Spectrum of the Seas – Royal Caribbean®
Royal Caribbean’s latest addition will allow cruisers to explore the Far East onboard the first ship in their Quantum Ultra Class.
You can expect all the usual trademark facilities, such as drinks crafted by robots at the Bionic Bar and the iconic North Star which allows you to experience 360 degree views, 300ft above sea level. She’ll hit the high seas in April 2019!
MSC Bellissima – MSC Cruises
The biggest ship ever to be christened in the UK, MSC Cruises’ latest addition will launch in Southampton in March 2019. She’ll rival the features of her sister ship, MSC Meraviglia, and will also feature new innovative technology onboard. Passengers will be able to locate where their other half or the kids are on the ship, as well as make real-time bookings and reservations.
Cruisers will have the choice of 12 international dining venues as well as 20 bars. She’ll be taking on the Med in her first season, visiting delightful destinations such as Barcelona, Messina and Valletta.
MSC Grandiosa – MSC Cruises
MSC Cruises aren’t happy with just launching the one ship this year – there’s a second new ship on it’s way in October 2019! She’ll be the largest ship so far in the fleet, with features to match.
Her dynamic retail offering will blow shopping enthusiasts away, with innovative and beautiful new shopping areas that hope to elevate their guests’ shopping experience to whole new level. She’ll explore Mediterranean hot spots like Palermo, Civitavecchia (for Rome) and Genoa.
Norwegian Encore – Norwegian Cruise Line
The fourth addition to Norwegian Cruise Line’s Breakaway Plus class ships, Norwegian Encore is said to be jam-packed with facilities and activities that you’ll want to do again and again.
Her inaugural sailing is an 11-night transatlantic cruise sailing from Southampton in November, as she makes her way to Miama to undertake cruises around the Caribbean until next Summer. Thrill seekers – this one’s for you.
Much like her sister ship Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Encore will feature the largest race track at sea as well as an Aqua Park with super slides to whoosh down. Add that to award-winning entertainment and their Premium All Inclusive package, and you’re onto a winner.
Sky Princess – Princess Cruises
Princess Cruises are adding another member to their royal family in October 2019 – Sky Princess! She’s set to take their Royal Class ships to new heights, with fancy accomodations available like the Sky Suite (pictured above). Their largest balcony at sea will give you exclusive access to sweeping vistas like never before.
She’s also boast some of their most exciting entertainment venues yet, new dining choices and award-winning chef partnerships. Looks pretty good from where we’re standing!
