Voyager of the Seas

Royal Caribbean’s Voyager of the Seas has now completed her month-long $80 million refurbishment, and it looks like there are plenty of treats in store for all who sail in her! The 138,000gt ship underwent a series of bow-to-stern upgrades, in the largest refurbishment project ever completed at Singapore’s Shembawang Shipyard. Upgrades include the introduction of the FlowRider surf simulator, virtual balcony staterooms, a 3D movie theatre and three exciting new restaurants. As if the Voyager the Seas wasn’t already fabulous enough, we can’t wait to see her take the sea again for the 2014/2015 winter-spring season.

FlowRider Surf Simulator

Voyager of the Seas Flowrider

The FlowRider is only one of the many unique innovations that can only be experienced on a Royal Caribbean cruise. Already featured on the Oasis of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas, Independence of the Seas and the Liberty of the Seas, it’s a favourite among many passengers, whether you’re already an experienced surfer or you just fancy trying something new. The FlowRider will take you on the ride of your life through 60,000 gallons of rushing water, sending a flow of water up a sloped, cushioned platform and creating a wave-like stream of water that provides a true surfing experience suitable for all experience levels.

Virtual balconies

Voyager of the Seas virtual balconies

Royal Caribbean’s virtual balconies are the first of their kind and are already a great success on the Quantum of the Seas. The 80-inch LED projection screen that stretches from floor to ceiling offers real time views of the ocean and destinations visible from the ship. Displayed in high resolution on the wall of an otherwise windowless stateroom, the virtual balconies definitely offer that ‘wow’ factor that Royal Caribbean International are known for.

3D movie theatre

Catch the latest films in the Voyager of the Seas’ new and improved 3D movie theatre. Films come to life in stunning, high-resolution 3D that will draw you right into the action and make you feel as though you’re part of the story! The theatre provides the perfect location to kick back and relax with comfortable seats that are fit for a king. If you’re travelling with the family, what better way to spend the evenings than with first-run films by DreamWorks Animation and many other studios? With showings ranging from all-time classics to brand new, never-before-seen movies, the 3D movie theatre will keep the kids well-entertained after a long day of on-board activities.

New dining experiences

Voyager of the Seas new dining opportunities

The enhancements made to the Voyager of the Seas included the introduction of three new speciality restaurants.

Fancy some sushi? The new Izumi restaurant serves exquisite Japanese cuisine in a modern, sumptuous sushi joint. Or if you’re in the mood for Italian, head on down to Giovanni’s Table and tuck into some tasty, traditional Italian pasta. Offering fabulous food at great prices, Giovanni’s Table is already a favourite on Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas.

If you’re more of a steak enthusiast, we recommend trying out the new Chops Grille on board the Voyager of the Seas. Having already proved successful on the Navigator of the Seas, the steak house offers a variety of good eats like fresh fillet mignon, as well as unusual and tasty dry-aged steaks – as the first cruise line to offer this particular delicacy to guests, Royal Caribbean International just keep getting better and better.

The Voyager of the Seas has now sailed to Sydney to begin her 2014/2015 winter-spring voyages and is set to return to Singapore in April 2015 for a 10-night cruise to Tokyo.
