Due for it’s release in Summer 2018, Norwegian Bliss is hitting the headlines this week with the announcement of its new fast paced, fun-filled , family favourite onboard race track.
Following on from its success on Norwegian Joy, the two-level competitive racetrack is zipping its way onto Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship. She’ll be the cruise lines 16th ship and she’s scheduled to make her maiden voyage in June 2018.
The Alaska-bound Norwegian Bliss will have the biggest and best race track at sea – and at over 1,000ft, it will be 40% longer than Norwegian Joy’s. Passengers will compete against each other over its two-deck-high racing course in electric go-carts – this will be a first for a vessel based in North America. See the ocean blur as you take on the hairpin turns and put your driving skills to the test. The course has 10 turns, two of which are cantilevered over the ship’s side.
The go-carts have four speed settings, beginners, intermediates and advanced, that will reach speeds of up to 30 miles per hour. But if this isn’t enough to get you on the edge of your seat, there’s also a ‘turbo boost’ on each lap for the thrill seekers among us. The go-carts run silently, but with race car engine sounds piped in through speakers located in the headrest, so you can burn rubber without disturbing the peace of other passengers.
Andy Stuart, Norwegian Cruise Line’s President and Chief Executive officer said: “Norwegian Bliss will no doubt be our most incredible ship to date. We have elevated Norwegian Bliss’ onboard experience to new heights, bringing the best features from across our fleet plus exciting new first-at-sea activities like the largest race track and new dining concepts to create the ultimate cruising experience.”
