Sail into New York fashion week as Cunard launches its very first voguish voyage. That’s right – Cunard is about to celebrate all things fashion as it welcomes a host of special guests aboard its luxury ocean liner, Queen Mary 2.
This seven-night cruise will leave Southampton on 1st September and arrive in New York City just in time for Fashion Week. The ship will welcome a host of industry experts throughout the sailing including fashion designer, Dame Zandra Rhodes, fashion historian and style commentator, Colin McDowell, and not to mention the creator of New York Fashion Week herself, Fern Mallis.
These fashion professionals will play host to a selection of events, which will include talks, meet and greets and workshops.
But that’s not all fashion lovers have to look forward to, guests onboard will be treated to a catwalk show where they will get to preview some of Dame Zandra Rhodes latest designs. The show will be presented by Colin McDowell and the looks will be modelled by a host of fresh faces from Storm modelling agency.
Eight recent graduates from The Royal College of Art, one of the world’s most prestigious fashion schools, will also be onboard to display their designs. This will give guests an opportunity to meet the fashion designers of the future.
Dame Zandra Rhodes, who has dressed a list of big names such as Diana, Princess of Wales and Elizabeth Taylor, has shared her enthusiasm for the new itinerary. She said: “I’m extremely excited to be joining Cunard on board Queen Mary 2 for the very first Transatlantic Fashion Week, 2016.
“For me, it offers the opportunity to share my knowledge and wonderful experiences from throughout my career in fashion, and give guests a taste of what my collection has to offer.”
And it’s apt that the high-style crossing will be held on board Queen Mary 2 given its long association with glamour and elegance. These cruise liners are known for their rich heritage and have always had a large focus on tradition, elegance and formality.
Cunard’s Marketing Director, Angus Struthers said: “Cunard has at its heart a celebrated history of guests dressing with style and a sense of occasion, as well as some of the finest dining at sea and, of course, the glamour of music and dance in the largest ballrooms at sea.”
That said, Cunard isn’t solely recognised for its sense of style. In fact, Cunard is also known for its White Star Service, decadent dining and world-class entertainment.
So strut your stuff on the on the transatlantic runway this September as Queen Mary 2 makes its first fashioned-themed crossing.
