Not only do you have Thomson Cruises’ latest ship to look forward next year, plans have been revealed that Thomson Discovery will be undergoing some renovations ready for her launch in April 2016.
Thomson Discovery will feature revitalised dining options, a new entertainment programme, a sleek new design on the exterior of the ship and new hotel providers for cruise and stay options. This is all in order to modernise the on-board customer experience for Thomson Cruisers.

A New look

Have you seen the new wave design for Discovery’s exterior? We think it’s going to make a splash in port – pun definitely intended. It gives Discovery a new identity from its old incarnation as Royal Caribbean’s Splendour of the Seas, and has echoes of a Thomson Airways aircraft livery.

New venues

You will now have eight dining options to choose from on-board Thomson Discovery, including two new signature restaurants to enjoy –

Snack Shack

You’ll find Snack Shack right by your favourite sunbathing spot, up on the Pool Deck. Grab some nachos and quesadillas during the day, or a hot cocoa and popcorn while you’re watching an open-air film screening on a night. This new light-bite option is themed around the iconic British beach huts and has a fun, festival-style take on dining.

For this new signature restaurant Thomson Cruises put-it-the-vote, and asked over 4,000 cruisers what that wanted as their new dining option. They chose contemporary Italian cuisine as their winner, and this new restaurant will be located in the upstairs of the main dining area.

Thomson Discovery new update

New entertainment

Those of you who are avid Thomson Cruisers will be familiar with the multiple award-winning PEEL Entertainment Group. They have been providing the show-stopping, live entertainment across the whole Thomson Cruises fleet since 2003. PEEL will be showcasing a new live extravaganzas on-board Discovery, we can’t wait to see what’s in-store.

What to expect from Thomson Discovery in 2016

Managing Director of Thomson Cruises, Helen Caron, said “I’m really delighted to start unveiling our plans for Thomson Discovery as we are now just six months away from the launch. A big focus of our strategy is to modernise our on-board customer experience. On Discovery we’ll be offering our customers more choice and balance so they can really personalise their cruise with us. I’m confident the new signature restaurants, together with other exciting on board features, will delight our current cruise customers while attracting new ones too, especially families.”

Discovery will be the largest ship in the Thomson Cruises fleet, with a capacity of 1,830 guests across 915 cabins. Almost 40% of the cabins on-board Discovery will be balconies, a first for Thomson Cruises. What can beat waking up to a sea view from your balcony cabin? A bigger ship also means more choice. Discovery will have more of dining options, bars and lounges, on-board activities than any other ship in the Thomson Cruises fleet.

Itineraries

Summer 2016 itineraries include – Highlights of the Mediterranean, Cosmopolitan Classics, Mediterranean Secrets and Magic of Spain. These sailings will take in some of the most popular European spots, including Italy for Naples – Pompeii and  Spain for Barcelona and Cadiz – Seville.

You and your family will be able to make the most out of the Saturday sailings, and flights from 19 regional airports across the UK and Ireland.
Thomson Discovery will depart from its new home port in Barbados for winter 2016, offering you an all new ‘no sea day’,  on the Seven Shores Caribbean itinerary. Ports of call include – Bridgetown, Barbados; Fort de France, Martinique; Roseau, Dominica; Pointe a Pitre, Guadeloupe; Castries, St Lucia; Kingstown, St Vincent and St George’s, Grenada.
