P&O Cruises flagship Britanniais to host new TV show Battlechefs. The P&O Cruises Food Hero and celebrity chef, Marco Pierre White will judge the cookery skills of 10 celebrity contestants. The amateur chefs taking part include – Alex James from Blur, Keith Duffy from Boyzone, as well as actor John Partridge well known for playing Christian Clarke in EastEnders.
Battlechef will be filmed over two separate Mediterranean cruises on Britannia. Each episode will feature five celebrity contestants, all competing to become the Battlechefs champion. We will follow the celebrities as they call into each port – discovering the charming and captivating stories behind each location and showcasing the local cuisine and produce. The celebrities will each take up the role of head chef, putting their new culinary skills to the test. They will be tasked with taking charge in the kitchen, instructing the other celebrities in order to serve up a storm, for the Captain and VIP guests.
The celebrities will try their hardest to impress the Captain with their new cooking skills – however there maybe mutiny within the ranks. Their competitors will help prepare the meals, but will also get a chance to score each other – will they choose to play tactically, by helping or hindering their efforts?
Battlechefs comes as a partnership between broadcaster UKTV, TV channel Watch and P&O Cruises. P&O Cruises marketing director Christopher Edgington said, “We are very excited to be making Battlechefs on Britannia. Watch provides an ideal audience to encourage newcomers to cruising and will showcase our food ethos. Our cookery school on board provides the perfect backdrop for the show as the celebrities prepare speciality dishes from around the Med.”
UKTV Commissioning Editor Victoria Summer commented, “Travel, food and healthy competition come together in Battlechefs. It’s an energetic show which centres on challenge and good-hearted rivalry. Seeing whether our celebs can pull off the menus they’re given against the clock is going to be very entertaining.”
Battlechefs will be coming to our screens in 2016, and will be aired on TV channel Watch.
