Thomson Cruises has announced that they will be welcoming a new ship to their fleet – Splendour of the Seas, currently sailing under the Royal Caribbean. Splendour of the Seas will be joining Thomson Cruises in the summer 2016, replacing the Island Escape which will be retired in October 2015. This comes as the first step in the modernisation and transformation strategy of the Thomson Cruise fleet, set out by Helen Caron, Managing Director of Thomson Cruises.
Splendour of the Seas, like all Royal Caribbean ships is full of the highest quality on-board activities and accommodation, so it will be an excellent addition to the Thomson Cruises fleet. Splendour of the Seas was built in 1996 so is well versed in providing memorable holidays for countless guests. In 2011 she underwent extensive renovations to update the whole of the ship, gaining new suites and restaurants. Splendour of the Seas is currently sailing from Sao Paulo in Brazil on three to seven night cruises to Argentina and Uruguay, her final voyage as part of the Royal Caribbean fleet will begin on 4th April 2016 if you want to catch it.
So what’s so great about this ship?
Well for a start it will be the biggest vessel in the Thomson Cruises fleet holding 2,076 passengers, which is over 500 extra passengers compared to the smaller ships. A massive draw for guests will be that 40% of the cabins have balconies and boast extra suites, giving cruisers a more luxurious sailing experience.
The on-board activities available include a nine hole mini golf course, outdoor movie screen and rock climbing wall – which will keep kids and adults alike, occupied for hours. That’s not all, the larger ship means extra dining options with five restaurants, as well as the eight bars and additional lounges to unwind in. The new ship means that current and future guests on-board will have more activities, wider choices of suites and dining options to choose from.
Despite gaining their largest ship yet, Thomson Cruises aim to retain their personal approach by providing their well-known intimate atmosphere, high level of customer service, and of course their unmissable destinations and itineraries. There is currently a fantastic offer on all Island Escape sailings, for free all-inclusive packages and free tips, so you can give her a proper send off on your next cruise.
Thomson Cruises latest addition will be on sale from the end of April 2015 for summer 2016 cruises, so keep a look for details coming very soon.
It was announced in April that the latest ship would be named Thomson Discovery, and would be based in Palma, Majorca for summer 2016.
