Mountains high… Valleys low… P&O Cruises’ new ship Iona is set to sail the remarkable Norwegian Fjords during her inaugural season!
P&O Cruises’ new flagship Iona is to be launched in 2020. We waited for her name, entertainment releases, cabin overviews and all the glorious food and finally her destination has been revealed! Can we get excited now!?
Sailing exclusively to the Fjords – a destination best experienced from the sea, every single detail of Iona has been built with this in mind.
P&O Cruises’ senior vice president, Paul Ludlow said: “From the initial stages of her build we knew that Iona would be sailing to the Fjords and as such, every single detail has been designed to maximize the views, the ever changing vistas and remarkable landscape.”
“SkyDome, with its glass roof and temperature control will ensure that guests have an unrivalled viewpoint as the ship sails through the breathtaking vertical expanses of narrow gorges and blue sky and past mountains, glaciers and wildlife”.
Iona certainly makes the sea the star of the show with unforgettable views guaranteed from all over the ship.

Raft along 8km of a fast flowing river in Hellesylt before settling for lunch around a bonfire, and even see one of the Fjords’ best natural wonders in Geirangerfjord with a kayaking experience, where you’ll float past amazing waterfalls!
For the culture buffs
Bergen, Stavanger and Alesund will be your favourite ports of call! With its iconic expressionism and contemporary culture, Bergen is the centre of the Norwegian art scene. History comes alive in Bryggen, an UNESCO-listed wharf area where most of the buildings are more than 300 years old.
You can also explore the small city of Stavanger – known as the ‘Cradle of the Vikings’ – which is packed full of history and heritage. Or see the best preserved examples of Art Nouveau architecture that Europe has to offer in amazing Alesund.
Skies without limits
