10 years after her launch, Queen Victoria has undergone a £34 million pound makeover – giving her a truly royal look. The work began on the 5th of May 2017 and lasted just a month – and the results are in! Take a look at the amazing transformation of one of Cunard’s most spectacular ships…
If you’re keeping things simple and staying in one of Queen Victoria’s Inside Staterooms, the new refit has turned the ship’s most basic rooms into a beautiful boudoir. Gone are the more dated tones of beige and brown, instead they’re replaced by elegant blues and sophisticated patterns. You can say hello to more opulent furnishings too, making the room feel bigger and better than ever.
The new Balcony Staterooms mirror the tones found in the new Insides, with royal blue and gold embroidered bed furnishings taking centre stage. The new colours reflect the tones you’ll find when stepping outside onto your balcony – hues not unlike those of the shimmering azure waters and the gleaming rays of the sun. The room feels more spacious and full of light – making the perfect retreat to relax in after a day exploring your chosen destination.
Cunard’s new and improved Suites are something to seriously shout about – from the bland tones of the past to elegant and contemporary shades, your stay in one of these rooms will be noticeably enhanced. Gone are garish carpets – instead, you can expect to find serene fabrics of purple and gold, complimented perfectly by dark oak furnishings. This regal look would make any cruiser feel like royalty.
Grand Suite Lounge Area
Let’s face it, the lounge area of the grand suite was starting to look dated – the light wood covering the room blended in with the beige carpet, and offered little in terms of colour. Now, this sociable area is somewhere you’d want to kick back and relax with friends after a memorable day at sea – with a wall-mounted TV screen, interesting sculptures on display in glass cabinets and serene art for you to soak up, this calming retreat creates an atmosphere of relaxation and sophistication.
In the heart of deck nine, close to the pool and the Lido buffet, you’ll find the Winter Garden. A place flooded with natural light thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows that offer some of the best views across the ship and out to sea. Now, it packs more in its punch when it comes to decor – a statement floor, glorious glass canopy and elegant lounge furniture as well as new shrubs and greenery to compliment the new colour scheme. You’ll feel as though you’re in the midst of an enchanting forest – a real magical hideaway.
