Well, that’s another month gone by (where has this year gone, seriously?!) and once again it has been quite a busy one in the world of cruises. So, apart from the odd glamorous awards ceremony what else has been making the cruise news headlines in November? Read on to find out…
Oceania launches another 180-day cruise
Remember Oceania’s epic 180 days around the world cruise? Well, the original was so popular that the cruise line has decided to do another one in 2015.
The trip will go around the world in just under six months and visit 100 ports of call including Mumbai, New York and the Seychelles. Just like the first voyage, passengers will be taken to a variety of international destinations on board the mid-sized ship Insignia.
This once-in-a-lifetime journey will depart from Miami in July 2015. However, reservations open on the 4th December, so get in quick to secure your place on this awe-inspiring voyage.
Royal Caribbean to feature ‘Mamma Mia!’ on Quantum of the Seas
Royal Caribbean has announced that guests will be able to enjoy ‘Mamma Mia!’ on its new ship Quantum of the Seas.
This will be the fourth licensed main-stage production, after “Hairspray”, “Chicago” and “Saturday Night Fever”.
The hit musical, which features famous hits such as ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘The Winner Takes it All’ and ‘Gimmie! Gimmie! Gimmie!’, will be just part of the offering on board Royal Caribbean’s newest ship, which will depart from New York in November 2014.
Royal Caribbean launches its new ship: Anthem of the Seas
The biggest news story of the month has got to be Royal Caribbean’s launch of Anthem of the Seas, which will embark on her maiden voyage in the spring of 2015.
Weighing in at 167,000 tonnes, the ship will have the capacity to carry 4,180 passengers in its 2,090 cabins. While bigger than a lot of ships on the market, she’s a fair bit smaller than her predecessors Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas, which can carry more than 5,000 passengers.
Having said that, Anthem of the Seas boasts some brand new amenities, such as a skydiving simulation and the “North Star” – a glass capsule that protrudes out from the side of the vessel to give passengers a truly unique view of the ship.
