Cruising can take you to some pretty magical destinations, but these private retreats in The Bahamas are seriously close to paradise – and they’re exclusive to each cruise line, too!

With as much or as little to do as you want, these luxurious locations offer all the picture-perfect scenery you can think of, just without all the hustle and bustle you’ll find on other islands. Take a look at the three Bahamian retreats that are sure to inspire your next spectacular sailing…

CocoCay® – Royal Caribbean®

Around 50 miles north of Nassau, in the middle of bright blue Bahamian waters lies CocoCay, a 140-acre island playground exclusive to Royal Caribbean guests. This tropical paradise has recently welcomed a $20 million renovation – creating many new aquatic facilities, nature trails and a ton of great places to just sit back and relax. Make sure you get your snorkel for a shallow water scuba beach dive to view colourful tropical fish, coral, and even a sunken plane wreck!

Sea-kayaking is also a great way to view marine life in these crystal-clear waters. Aside from the stunning beaches and coastline, there’s also plenty to do in-land. Head off on a little island safari – a 90-minute tour on the Nature Trail will allow you see the natural beauty of the island, as well as let you discover different species of plants and animals in their native habitat. Camera at the ready!

Half Moon Cay – Carnival

Half Moon Cay is one of the most popular destinations among cruisers in The Bahamas. Owned by Holland America but exclusive to Carnival, this little getaway doesn’t disappoint! There’s so much to do – sail, swim or snorkel the shallow bluey-green Atlantic, ride horseback along the sea’s edge, get in and amongst the stingrays in their natural habitat – the list is endless!

Over 90% of the island is unspoiled and totally natural, while the entire island is a wild bird preserve – making it a huge hit with lovers of wildlife. The bay itself is well-protected from the ocean currents, making Half Moon Cay very family-friendly in terms of swimming and relaxing on the lilo. The island has many waterways and lagoons – so be sure to explore them in a kayak! Enjoy a sip of fruity punch and rum in the Bahamian air – let the kids loose in the pirate ship at the water park and relax!
