Hooray! It’s National Beer Day – and everyone knows when the sun is shining we naturally all run to the closest beer garden! That fizzing, cold and frothy beer is the perfect refreshing drink – and if you’re a bit of a beer enthusiast, you’ll be glad to know that when you’re cruising your choice of a cold one is never-ending. There can be up to 70 different kinds of ale onboard – you really will be spoiled for choice. From your home favourites on tap to bold and unusual bottles from around the globe, you’ll enjoy sampling more than a few…

P&O Cruises

Here’s a toast to P&O Cruises’ mighty ship Britannia, who take the world of British branded beer by storm. They have the biggest variety of British beers onboard, meaning the choice is simply outstanding, with 70 in total from 56 counties – you’ll sample ales, stouts, gluten-free varieties and specialty beers, too.

P&O Cruises wine expert and creator of his very own beer, Olly Smith said – “Beer is the most creative drink on the planet. Every day, new inventive brews are crafted as well as quenching refreshing beers with electrifying tropical hops.” If you don’t know where to start – opt for a beer flight, which allows you to sample three different beers from a chosen region of the country. Did we mention the pints onboard Britannia are cheaper than a high-street pub? For as little as £3.85 per bottle, you could be sipping a cold one for next to nothing.

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Escape is a beer lovers paradise, offering tastes from all over the world. You’ll indulge in one of the 24 beers on tap – or how about a beer cocktail? This bar is exclusive to Norwegian Escape, so if you enjoy a good brew whilst listening to live music, the District Brew House bar is the place to be. You’ll sample everything from the classic taste of Magic Hat, to Brooklyn and Angry Orchard. Not to mention they even bagged a major partnership with Miami-based Wynwood Brewing Company. You’ll have the choice of 50 bottled beers, as well as an exclusive beer experience as you sample the wonders of the ‘Pops’ District Ale which is brewed specially for the ship. There’s even a photo booth installed for when you’re feeling rather merry and you want to capture the moment!

Princess Cruises

Princess Cruises celebrated their 50th birthday in style by revealing their partnership with Seawitch West Coast IPA by Strike Brewing Company – so this special brew is now available across the Princess Cruises fleet. The cruise line is bigging up the craft beer culture with a new and exciting concept – the Salty Dog Gastropub. Pairing creative pub food from Chef Ernesto Uchimura with beers and whiskies, you’ll find it presented in the Wheelhouse Bar onboard Crown Princess, Emerald Princess and Ruby Princess. And if you’re planning a trip to Alaska, you can expect to see bottles of the Alaska Brewing Company’s beer onboard, too!

Carnival

Carnival have always embraced the importance of a fresh cold pint and are no strangers to the ale industry. The Red Frog pub debuted on Carnival Magic back in 2011, with its very own label draft beer – Thirsty Frog Red. Since then, Carnival has expanded introducing local microbreweries such as Tampa-based Cigar City. As well as taking you to amazing destinations, Carnival channels the itinerary you’ll be taken on with ales supplied from your ports of call. Enjoy an Abita in New Orleans and savor the local tastes of Hawaii or Alaska with a Bikini Blonde or Alaskan Amber. And just to top things off, you can even pull your own pint!

Cheers to that!
