Guy Fawkes Night is one of the highlights of the autumn season, with families celebrating each year with toffee, smoky-smelling bonfires and fireworks on 5th November. This kind of entertainment isn’t just something that you can admire from a safe spot at the back of your garden, however – and you don’t even need to wait ‘til November comes around! Many cruises now arrange firework displays on itineraries throughout the year, so if you want to experience a display at sea like no other, read on to find out which cruises will be going off with a bang over the coming year…
Famous for the Fab Four, Liverpool has clearly always know how to put on a show, and next year, you’ll be able to see fireworks in all their Technicolour glory from their Queen Mary 2 luxury liner. After the success of 2011’s firework display (pictured above) when QM2 visited for the first time, Cunard’s reuniting the ‘three Queens’ in May 2015 at the Albert Dock for their 175th anniversary, and there’s sure to be plenty of celebrating to be done! Stand on deck as this majestic vessel takes a night time breather in the port and allows you to gasp at the fireworks as they blaze across the Merseyside sky.
Disney Cruise Line
Then there’s Disney Cruise Line, which has always known how to show its guests a good time, setting sail for shores across the world, from the Bahamas to Alaska and giving guests that feelgood vibe courtesy of much-loved Disney characters.
There are regular family celebrations on deck, including one for ‘Embarkation Night’, but the best event to see the fireworks light up the sky is at Pirate Night. Guests can don a bandana and choose their meal from a treasure-map-styled menu. After all the dancing, Captain Hook and his dastardly cronies try to take control of the ship. However, Mickey and his friends refuse to stand for that and, much to the delight of the cruise passengers, send him packing with an array of dazzling fireworks that are staggeringly impressive, whatever your age.
Norwegian Cruise Line
With the grand-sounding ships such as Norwegian Epic and Norwegian Sun, Norwegian Cruise Line treats its guests to equally grand destinations from LA to Mediterranean stops like Rome and Provence. But most dazzling of all is the firework display on every Norwegian Breakaway Cruise, featuring rockets and bangers that go off to the tune of 80s hits like ‘The Final Countdown’!
Even if you’re not travelling on the Breakaway, New York is a great choice for catching some more sky celebrations at events like New Year and NCL’s fleet often sets sail or finishes up at this East Coast metropolis.
