Taking a cruise is a great way to indulge in your hobbies. Dance themed cruises are more easily found than you might have thought, with many of the world’s best cruise lines offering new ways to enjoy your time on the dance floor.

Finding the best cruises for dancing is easier than you might imagine. It’s not all big band music and classic ballroom style either, as you’ll find options so that every kind of musical taste can be enjoyed. Lively nightclubs blazing with electric lights, Latin passion played out on the dance floor and line dancing country & western style are just the tip of the iceberg. If you’re looking for dance cruises in 2017, take a look at our what a few of our favourite cruise lines have to offer.

MSC Cruises

There’s a good mix of styles on MSC Cruises. It’s a cruise line with a very international perspective, which plays out in its parties as much as its itineraries.

The plush Fantasia Class ships from MSC Cruises offer a dance floor experience for everyone. Choose to board the namesake MSC Fantasia or stylish MSC Splendida and you’ll discover that the onboard Galaxy Club is the place to be after sunset. This enormous space packs in panoramic views and immense plasma screens, together with bright lights and resident DJs. More organised dances take place in the onboard Black & White Lounge, where live bands play and more traditional dances light up the evening.

It makes sense that a cruise line as elegant as Cunard offers a sophisticated yet laid-back dancing experience onboard. The magnificent Queen Mary 2 is definitely the ballroom dance cruise ship of choice, due in no small part to its immense Queens Room. As broad as the ship is wide, the Queens Room features two chandeliers and space for an entire orchestra, so rest assured that ballroom dance classes here are the picture of sophistication.

Ballroom dance classes are led by a fun and friendly professional dancing couple, while ladies travelling solo or with a partner who’s not inclined to dance can be joined on the dancefloor by one of Cunard’s own distinguished gentleman dancers.

Royal Caribbean

We all love Royal Caribbean® for its ability to go the extra mile. For example, The Music Hall onboard Anthem of the Seas® is well known for its spot-on tribute acts, so be ready to boogie to The Beatles with your fellow guests. On the other hand, more modern dance parties are par for the course at Club Twenty, which features a beach party aesthetic without the sand.

Royal Caribbean’s Oasis-class cruise ships, such as Oasis of the Seas®, are also home to the two-floor nightclub Dazzles. It’s remarkably open and spacious here, making it a great venue for both live DJ mixes and more traditional themed nights.

P&O Cruises

Given that P&O Cruises has such a good reputation for providing dance cruises for singles, you can be assured of some glitz and glamour onboard. The cruise line specialises in ballroom dance classes that take their cues from your favourite TV programmes, from friendly competitions right up to strutting your stuff in front of a panel of judges.

There’s no need to feel coy though. Quite the opposite, in fact, thanks to the friendly faces and attentive staff onboard. In fact, a fair few TV personalities have been known to join these cruises in the past, so packing your autograph book might also be a smart idea.

Carnival Cruise Lines

The entertainment on offer on Carnival Cruise Lines always lives up to the name, and that’s the case with their dancing options too. Fans of themed nights such as Latin and disco can check out the Playlist Productions shows onboard some of Carnival’s liveliest cruise ships, such as Carnival Sunshine.

Carnival Sunshine is also known as one of the best places to dance salsa and other Latin steps, with themed spaces that make the most of the cruise line’s love of international culture. Check what kind of themed entertainment options feature on your Carnival cruise when booking, as they all tend to offer something a little different. Of course, if you’d like to try the moonwalk in the more literal sense, take a cruise onboard Carnival Valor, whose One Small Step dancefloor is flecked with sparkles on white granite. Combine that with the space-themed decorations and lunar looks, and you’re dancing on the moon until sunrise.

Norwegian Cruise Line

Some of the biggest parties on the seven seas take place right here on Norwegian Cruise Line cruise ships, especially at the Bliss Ultra Lounge onboard Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Breakaway. The massive screens that light up in sync with the DJ’s music give guests the illusion that they’ve just stepped out onto the Las Vegas strip, while the equally magnificent Norwegian Epic has more of a lounge feel.

Norwegian Epic is also a superb example of how versatile dancing entertainment onboard a Norwegian Cruise Line voyage can be. If those live-wire nightclub nights aren’t quite your style, live performances from professional ballroom dancers promise to get your toes tapping. Of course, joining in for yourself is always to be encouraged too, so don’t be shy in standing up and sparking up a foxtrot.

Wherever in the world you’re looking to cruise, and whichever cruise line you’ll be sailing with, there’ll be plenty of chances to get on your glad-rags and dance the night away. Leave the details to us as we help you to plan your ultimate cruising experience.
