We at CruiseDeals believe that a cruise is one of the most relaxing types of holiday around. You only have to unpack once, you can watch the ocean drift by and enjoy some of the many activities on board to unwind.
We heard that today is Loosen Up, Lighten Up Day where you are encouraged to take a step back, take a deep breath, forget about your troubles and relax. Seeing as a cruise is one of the best ways to do that, we are giving you a rundown of our top 5 ways to relax on a cruise ship. So sit back, relax and enjoy…
5. Go for a swim
There is something so relaxing about doing a couple of laps in the pool. Some gentle breaststroke in the cool water is a great form of soothing exercise, it can get the blood flowing through your muscles and leave you feeling free and tranquil. Go first thing in the morning if you would prefer to swim when it’s quiet. Then, you can let your mind wander as you watch the ocean go by…
Catching some rays on a P&O cruise ship
Of course, if that sounds a bit energetic for you, then why don’t you relax poolside instead? Sunbathing is one of the Brits’ favourite holiday pastimes, and it’s no surprise why. Get lost in a good book, top up your tan and let the day simply drift by as you sail towards your next destination.
3. Go for a run
Running is great for body and mind. Why not stock up on some podcasts or an audiobook before you leave and do a couple of sessions on the treadmill? If you prefer, do a few laps around the top deck. Many cruise ships have dedicated tracks on board, so you don’t have to worry about bumping into any unsuspecting pedestrians!
2. Relax in the spa
Indulging in a spa treatment is the ultimate way to relax. Nothing washes away your worries more than a rejuvenating massage, a full body scrub or a facial. Check out our favourite cruise spas to really get a taste of what’s available on these floating havens!
1. Chill out in your cabin
While we wouldn’t advocate doing this all day every day on your cruise, sometimes retreating to your cabin is the best way to get away from it all. All cruise cabins are furnished to a very comfortable standard and some have beautiful sea views. Most cruise lines have an excellent room service available, so you can get everything you need right from the comfort of your own cabin. Just remember to explore the rest of the ship and take advantage of all the other relaxing activities on offer too!
