Take your pick from a beach offering the most luxurious, laidback vibes to one that offers every water sport under the sun – whether you’re a sun worshiper looking for your very own slice of paradise or a thrill-seeker wanting wonderful water sports, Montego Bay has a stretch of sand to suit everyone.
Doctor’s Cave Beach
Renowned for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and wonderfully white sands, Doctor’s Cave Beach just happens to be one of the most iconic beaches in all of Jamaica. If it’s laid-back Caribbean vibes you’re after, they don’t come much better than this.
The entire beach itself is impeccably clean, and there’s even beach-side service available for tasty food and beverages. Order yourself a cocktail with a splash of authentic Jamaican rum and sit back and soak up the heavenly scenes before you.
If you or your other half is more interested in getting in the water than laying on the beach, then this is the perfect spot for a little more adventure, too. The almost translucent waters are just asking for you to go snorkeling, so rent or buy your masks and head off on an underwater adventure. There’s even a floating trampoline in the sea if you want to really make a splash!
Just a short walk away from the Hip Strip (a seemingly endless variety of restaurants, bars, and shops selling everything from souvenir t-shirts to quirky Jamaican gifts) lies Cornwall Beach, providing more shimmering sands and stunning views of the mountains in the distance.
It’s located directly next to Doctor’s Cave beach, so if you think that’s a little busy – which depends on what time of year you visit – then Cornwall Beach is a fantastic second option that’ll likely be a little quieter.
The nearby airport means that as you’re laying on these fine, soft sands you’ll be treat to the fabulous sight of planes coming in to land. It’s quite spectacular!
AquaSol Beach Park
For pure fun in the sun, look no further than Aquasol Beach Park. Located on Walter Fletcher beach, there’s more than just a few activities available at this lush location.
This curved sandy beach offers everything from tennis courts shaded under trees to a fantasic variety of watersports, including jet skis, banana boats, pedal boats, kayaks as well as scuba diving lessons. There’s even a Go-Kart racing track – the only one in Montego Bay – so you can really get your adrenaline pumping!
Of course, you can always just lay back and relax instead!
Note: AquaSol Beach is currently temporarily closed for rehabilitation of facilities as well as other improvements.
Seven Mile Beach, Negril
If you’re happy to venture out of the centre of Montego Bay, it has to be said that Seven Mile Beach is certainly worth the short 30-minute journey.
Breathtaking blue waters await – it’s so clear and warm that it’s like stepping into a warm bath! The beach here is unbelievably clean, and you’ll get a real feel for the laid-back Jamaican vibes on offer as reggae rhythms tantalise your ears in the background.
A firm favourite amongst all the beaches in the entire Caribbean, Seven Mile Beach is a Jamaican staple that has to be seen to be believed. Stroll along the soft, sugary-white sands and go for a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters – you won’t find a rock or shell in sight!
It might be hard to tear yourself away from this picture-perfect paradise. Just make sure to snap plenty of pictures to make all your friends and family insanely jealous!
